The current project consists of the design of 4,300 linear feet of new sidewalk along the eastern curb line of South Tryon Street in south Charlotte.  The project begins near Queen Anne Road and ends near Nations Ford Road.  A major feature of the project is 730 linear feet of cantilever reinforced concrete retaining wall, ranging from four feet to thirteen feet in height.  Parallel, stepped walls across from Renaissance Park and York Memorial Cemetery will allow an existing rocky cliff to be terraced down to the sidewalk.  Since South Tryon is an NC Route, drawings and retaining wall design calculations were submitted to NCDOT for approval.  The project duration is from April of 2009 until the present.  Construction cost was estimated at $1,250,000.  The project is currently in construction phase.
