The Wright Avenue Pedestrian Bridge is located in southeast Charlotte and was part of a City of Charlotte roadway project.
For this project, Armstrong Glen, PC provided structural design of a pedestrian bridge. The Wright Avenue bridge contains a clear span of 25 feet and a deck width of 25 feet. The superstructure consists of glue-laminated support beams, timber decking and timber handrails. The substructure consists of cast-in-place concrete spread footings, abutment walls and wing walls. All timber incorporated into the structure is pressure treated with copper napthenate so as to provide a 50 year life.
William Armstrong served as bridge engineer of record. The project was completed May of 2011.
