This City of Rock Hill project will replace approximately 860 linear feet of decomposed vitrified clay sewer main and install a 540-linear-foot sewer extension in order to redirect flow down Pickens Street. The existing eight inch diameter clay sewers are located along the centerlines of Pickens Street and Pendleton Street. Due to the high volume of traffic along the affected streets, one lane of travel is to remain open for the duration of the project. Clay sewers will be removed and replaced with 8-inch diameter PC350 ductile iron pipe. The old brick manholes will be replaced with new precast concrete manholes. Sewer services from thirty-five property owners will be tied onto the new ductile iron mains, and service will be maintained during construction using a bypass pumping operation.
The design and bidding phases of this project were on an accelerated schedule so that construction can be completed prior to the resurfacing of Pickens and Pendleton Streets. Construction cost: $374,000.
